Gorge Walk

Well we are sadly at the end of our year of learning together. Forcesome Four has had an awesome year full of memories we will carry with us for years to come.

Today the Middle Syndicate celebrated 2017 by travelling to Ashurst to walk the Tawa Loop track and have a shared kai picnic in the Domain followed by a play.

Check out some pics below!

Kiwiana for the Kiwi Day

One group from Room 4  looked at "how might we help save the kiwi?" for their Passion Project. Kaylee, Jasmin and Zoe teamed up with a group from Flaming Five who were looking into a similar quest to plan a day for kids to donate a gold coin in exchange for an ice block and some fun games.

They girls raised a total of $359 which they have donated to Rainbow Springs hatchery program.

Here are some photos of the day. Tino pai ladies!

Speech Competition / CSNS in 2020

Mr Kennedy is holding a speech competition to find out what kids want their school to be like in 2020.
See the notice below, which all of Forcesome Four have a copy of in their home books this week.
Today we had a class brainstorm and there is a photo below of our circle map with many of the ideas that came up - but not all would fit, there were so many creative and imaginative ideas!

Hopefully some of you are keen to enter and will get working on writing your speeches!

Matariki Kite Flying!

The Seven Kites of Matariki

Once upon a time lived 7 sisters. At new year the sisters built some kites because they were celebrating maori new year. I like the 2 sisters kite. They went to fly their kites but there was no wind so they waited under near grandad Puriri, a big tree. The sisters went one by one went to sleep because they were tired.
The wind went so hard on the branch the kites flew away and when the littlest sister woke up she said “where's my kite?” Eldest sister pointed to the sky. They saw 6 kites in the sky. Then… the kites were flying stars!  The 6 older sisters went away at the beach back home because they smelled kai cooking. But the littlest sister stayed there. She was amazed when suddenly she saw her kite there. She saw seven stars and she felt happy. She had seen the matariki stars.
